Today I want to talk about Waiting. Ugh.
Waiting is Hard. It doesn’t matter if you are waiting on finding your special person or the right job or the right home or even healing with a health issue, Waiting is Hard.
For the purpose of this podcast though, I’m going to focus on Waiting when it comes to relationships, however, some of what I’m going to share here may apply to other situations as well.
First off, I want to clarify what I mean when I say “Waiting”. I’m not talking about sitting back and hoping (or praying) that God just drops someone in your lap without you doing any work at all. What I’m talking about is ACTIVE Waiting.
Active Waiting (in my opinion) means living your Life WHILE you wait. You’re not putting your Life on hold for anyone or anything. When we want a person (or relationship) SO badly, we may have a tendency to look at every opportunity as a possibility to meet someone. Instead, focus on YOU; your personal growth. Learn everything you can about yourself so that you become the very BEST version of you that there is. If there is somewhere you would like to go or something you would like to attend, then by all means do so but do it FREELY, without the thought of possibly meeting someone.
Developing that type of mindset leads to a higher vibration when it comes to your Energy. Whether you believe in it or not, it DOES matter. People FEEL you the minute you walk in a room before you even speak a word. Your Energy emanates from you powerfully, whether it is positive or negative.
I know how easy it is when we get tired of waiting to try and force an outcome. We blunder ahead and tell ourselves “That’s it. I’m taking matters into my own hands.” We put ourselves out there and maybe even join the dating apps (don’t get me started). Quickly, we find ourselves trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Somehow, our values and finding someone who aligns with them becomes forgotten. It’s called settling and trust me being with the wrong person is FAR worse than remaining single. Just because we want something (or someone) now doesn’t mean we are ready for it.
It can be tempting, if you find yourself in a Season of Waiting, to compare your single life to people you know who are married. This will create a scarcity mindset for you which can be SO detrimental to your wellbeing. It keeps you focused on what you DON’T have rather than being Grateful for what you DO have.
Regardless of what society says by the way, being single is not a death sentence. If that means I live my Life without being in a romantic relationship, so be it. I’ve been given the Gift of Life as you have as well. Let’s not waste it pining for something that is currently out of reach. Instead, find Acceptance in where you are on your Journey and enjoy your Peace.
I’m not going to sit here and act like Waiting is a cake walk because it’s not. It’s hard. It demands holding on to your Standards and having Discipline. I know because I’m doing it! Are there times when it can get lonely? Yes, but let me tell you, I’ve also experienced serious loneliness when I was IN a relationship which I think is WAY worse!
I would encourage you, as you engage in Active Waiting, to do the hard work for your own personal growth and fall in Love with your Life. Having a partner in Life sounds dreamy but if that is not your Path, then enjoy the people who HAVE been put into your Life.
Grieve if you have to for the Life you wanted and then Trust the Process. Even if you can’t see how this is going to turn out. Have Faith. Invest in yourself. I’ll leave you with this…..What is meant for you will never pass you by! Remember that.
